In a groundbreaking move for the UAE’s transport sector, leading corporations have joined forces to promote green mobility through the Road2.0 powered by UACA initiative.

Spearheaded by the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA) and managed by environmental charity Emirates Nature-WWF, this initiative has gathered major companies in a pledge to adopt Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) as part of the UAE’s sustainability goals. Road2.0 is currently led by 17 signatories including talabat, Unilever, Majid Al Futtaim, and Nestlé who are committed to testing and expanding the use of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in their fleets aiming to potentially achieve 30 percent decarbonisation of signatories’ UAE road transport fleet by 2030, and 100 percent by 2040. Road 2.0 aim to deploy 90 ZEVs by the end of 2024 and increase this to 6,000 by 2030, scaling up to 20,000 by 2040. Road2.0 signatories represent diverse economic sectors in the UAE spanning logistics, retail, food and beverage, groceries, fast moving consumer goods and sustainability, amongst others.

The success of Road2.0 highlights the power of public-private partnerships in achieving national sustainability goals. Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, and Mohammad Saeed Al Nuaimi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, have voiced their support for this initiative, recognizing the synergistic benefits when government and business align. This collaboration enables the UAE to accelerate its green mobility ambitions while promoting economic growth and environmental stewardship.

Laila Mostafa Abdullatif, Director-General of Emirates Nature-WWF, urges more companies to join Road2.0, underlining that this initiative presents a unique opportunity to create lasting impact. By uniting diverse stakeholders across the EV ecosystem, the UAE can pioneer large-scale EV implementation, ultimately shaping the future of green transport in the region.

The Road2.0 initiative is more than just a corporate declaration—it’s a commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future for the UAE. As companies transition to EVs, the UAE edges closer to its Net Zero 2050 goals, positioning itself as a regional leader in sustainable innovation. Through Road2.0, the UAE’s private sector is demonstrating strong corporate leadership and a readiness to lead the charge toward decarbonized transport.
